I have had the iPad 1 & 2, Galaxy Tablet, & Xoom. Returned them all. Not that they weren't good products, but weren't fulfilling my needs for business. The Acer A500 for me has the best bang for the buck. MicroSD works out of the box unlike the Xoom. USB drives connect direct and work flawlessly. Don't have to use iTunes. Really am enjoying this purchase. Will I send it back for the ASUS? Don't think so, like the direct USB connection.

The Acer A500 great! nice speed an virtually no system lagg. however facebook website is very twitchey and hard to use chat but the provided social jogger* lets you have all of ur chats in one place! the sound is great! however headphone over all volume is VERY unsatisfactorily. no problem playing videos and pic quality cant be rivaled with ALL pic settings easily in reach on the app page, overall this is an amazing tablet but not for the one who likes headphone music.

BLUF: This device seems to prove true what is a growing consensus - whatever Apple can do first, others can do better. Acer A500 this is simply a great tablet at a great price. Most people are either deciding between Android and iPad2, or deciding whether to dump Apple, so I will try to contrast this tablet with the iPad2.

PROs:
- Price: can't beat it for $450. Slap in 32GB of memory and you've got a better device for $200 less than a comparable iPad2.
- Super fast software. Acer A500 Android 3.0 is really slick and runs super fast on the 1Ghz processor.
- Super fast web browsing - much faster than iPad2 (Android web speed has been confirmed through testing).
- Bright, sharp display (1280x800 vs. 1024x768 for iPad2).
- HDMI out. Hook your tablet up to your HDTV and watch TV or movies. iPad2 can do it as well, but you need to buy an adapter or give Apple $40 for a special cable.
- SDHC Expandable memory. No such thing for iPad2 - you have to shell out for a whole new iPad2 if you want more memory.
- Great battery life. Comparable to iPad2.
- Minimal "trashware." Comes with a clean copy of Android 3.0 with just a few apps pre-installed.
- Great email. Seamless integration with Gmail, combined with Gmail's ability to essentially be my client for all my email accounts, puts all my emails in one place, AND is instantly and continuously synched over the air with my phone and PC.
- Perhaps my favorite feature - it will just play the MP3s you have without making duplicate copies in Apple's proprietary format. No iTunes required.

CONs:
- Weight. Weighs 1.7 pounds, compared to 1.4 for iPad2 and 1.6 for Xoom. However, the device is still balanced well and comfortable to hold.
- Boot time. The device takes about 15-20 seconds to boot after turn on. However, it doesn't use very much juice if it is on but idle, so I generally just keep it on all day, which effectively gives me instant on.

Overall, I couldn't be happier. Fantastic tablet for a great price.
